Revolutionary War
- Zachariah Prewitt enlisted from Pittsylvania Co., Va. in 1776. He moved to Sullivan Co., N.C. and served there in 1780 and 1781. He moved back to Pittsylvania Co. in 1783.
War of 1812
- Asa Prewitt served in the 4th Virginia Regiment (Greenhill's).
Civil War
- John W. Brown, Jr. served in the 79th Ohio Infantry, Company C.

World War II
- Robert W. Pruiett served in the Eighth Air Force in the European Theatre from 1943 to 1945.
- Ralph E. Pruiett served in the U.S. Army Air Force. His highest rank was Sergeant. He was discharged on Dec. 28, 1945. From July 1941 through Feb. 1943, he served in the 329th Basic School Squadron in Taft, Calif. From March 1943 through Feb. 1945, he served in the Psychological Research Unit in Santa Ana, Calif.; Shephard Field, Tex.; Buckley Field, Colo.; Bowman Field, Louisville, Ky. From August 1945 through Dec. 1945, he served at Anderson Air Base, Agana, Guam, 1537 Air Transport Unit.
